NBCC appeals for peace in Nagaland

Kohima, Aug 30 : The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has expressed concern over the recent spurt of violence and loss of lives at Namsa in Mon district and in Mekokla village under Wokha district.

In a release here today NBCC General Secretary Rev Dr L Anjo Keikung said the NBCC, on behalf of the Baptist Churches of Nagaland, has appealed to all concerned to immediately desist from any form of provocation and violence and give peace a chance.

''It is very unfortunate that such situation has erupted when the process of reconciliation spearheaded by Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has been making headway,'' he said.

The Council also conveyed its sympathy to the families, concerned groups and communities of the victims over the unfortunate episodes, the release added.
