NCP appeals Naga rebel groups to maintain peace in Nagaland

Kohima, Sep 2 : Nagaland unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has appealed all factions of Naga rebel groups to maintain peace in the state.

In a release issued by Nagaland NCP President Dr Chumben Murry, who is also the Agriculture Minister in the Neiphiu Rio led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government, said the inter-factional clash in Mekokla village under Bhandari sub-division of Wokha district on Thursday last, where one Zaremo Odyuo was killed, as 'very painful episode'.

''At the time when the entire state is talking about peace and reconciliation, the concerned people should have resorted to resolving any issues without violence,'' the release stated.

He appealed to all undergrounds stationed in Wokha district to maintain peace and heed to the voice of people.

The NCP unit also condemned the action of the Para-Military forces in the Namsa under Tizit Sub-division of Mon district on August 26 last, where one NSCN-IM cadre was killed by the forces.

''As instrument of the law and order, Assam Rifles should have used other platforms and method to resolve the issue rather than through bloodshed,'' the release added.
