Naga Hoho opposes Ravi as Centre’s interlocutor

DIMAPUR, Aug 13 – The Naga Hoho has expressed its displeasure over the appointment of retired Special Director of Intelligence Bureau RN Ravi as the Centre's new interlocutor for political negotiations with NSCN (IM).

The Naga Hoho stated in a release that it is opposed to the appointment of Ravi as Centre’s new Interlocutor for political negotiations with Naga political groups as he is a retired Special Director of IB.

It said Nagaland needs a neutral interlocutor without any prejudices and Ravi’s recent article ‘Nagaland: decent into chaos’ has clearly exposed his bent of mind and his preset notions of different Naga underground groups.

The Hoho strongly feels that such a person can never bring a political settlement to the Naga problem, rather he will destroy the hard earned ongoing peace process by using the mighty Indian forces as has been advocated by the intelligence agencies.

In this backdrop, the Naga Hoho appealed to the Government of India and its leaders to review the issue and appoint any other person without military or IB background.

It explained that the Naga people have happily accepted ceasefire pact between the Government of India and the Naga underground groups and appreciated the Government of India and its leaders for realizing the futility of the military way to the solution.

Pointing out that the Government of India has also recognized the Indo-Naga political problem as a “political issue” and not as a “law and order” problem, the apex Naga organization rued that despite various steps taken mutually by both Government of India and Naga political groups through political dialogue, the Centre has wasted the last 17 years without bringing about any tangible solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political problem.
