World War II Vintage Peace Rally arrives at Kisama

Kisama, Dec 8 : The World War Peace rally, which was flagged off at Naithu Resort in Dimapur this morning, arrived at World War II Museum Kisama Complex at 1200 hours, marking the conclusion of the Hornbill Festival.

Official sources here today said the Chief Minister and the Commander-in-Chief of the World War II Rally, Neiphiu Rio, received the rally at the World War II Museum complex. Altogether 14 four-wheelers and 41 participants took part in the rally.

Mr Rio thanked the participants and exhorted them to take part in the event next year. He also thanked Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for taking part in the function.

The Chief Minister said the World War II rally was being organised to remember and honour the heroes and promote the World War II museum at Kisama.

Thanking the participants and congratulating the winners, Mr Rio called upon the citizens to keep alive the history of the great battle of Kohima and the country.

Altogether 15 teams, including those from Manipur and Meghalaya, participated in the World War II Vintage rally.

Ashok Lyngdoh, Vincent Rula and Kyrshan Dinesh from Meghalaya notched up the first prize, followed by P G Rongmei and K Keditsu from Dimapur. Lanu Jamir, Tali Jamir and Colonel Sree secured the third position from Dimapur.

The winners walked home with a cash prize of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
