Dimapur, December 13 (MExN): A delegation of the Naga Students’ Federation attended the 3rd General Conference of the Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) at Hoyat Village (which is within Burma) from December 11 to 13 with Mutsikhoyo Yhobu, president NSF as chief guest and Achumbemo Kikon Former president, NSF as the guest of honour.
Mutsikhoyo Yhobu in his speech highlighted the activities of the NSF and strongly urged upon the Nagas living in the eastern province to remain united, while emphasizing that education is the most fundamental aspect for the Nagas to cope up with the rest of the world.
He assured that the federation would go all out to help the eastern Nagas to acquire education. Further, he expounded to the gathering that, the jurisdiction of the NSF stretches to all over the Naga areas irrespective of the artificial geographical boundaries and it is because of this reason that the delegation of the NSF took it as a pride to walk from Monyakshu to Hoyat village to cross the so called international boundary to attend the conference.
Achumbemo Kikon delved upon how Nagas were put into various administrative roofs by the colonial forces. He made it clear to the gathering that the then Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Prime Minister of Burma U. Nu were responsible for dividing the Nagas between India and Burma, otherwise, at no point of time Nagas agreed to be either a part of India or Burma (Myanmar).
He further stated that Nagas are one and shall remain one despite of the artificial political boundaries that has physically divided the Nagas at
present.
The six members delegation of the NSF comprises of Mutsikhoyo Yhobu, president NSF, Achumbemo Kikon, former NSF president, Ahito Achumi, education secretary NSF, Jollyson, deputy speaker, NSF, Voto Niekha, president Angami Students’ Union and Kusolie Yokha, education secretary ASU.
