Official sources said that the BRTF, under the Border Roads Organization (BRO), was looking after the National Highways, including NH29, which was the lifeline of Nagaland and Manipur.
The truck, carrying the contraband ganja, which was engaged on repairing works and maintenance of the NH29, was going towards Kohima from Manipur.
Police intercepted the truck and recovered 700 kgs of ganja from the vehicle after checking.
Police arrested both the drivers of the truck who admitted that the consignment was brought from Tadubi under Senapati district of Manipur and it was supposed to collect by some unknown party in Kohima.
Police registered a case and investigation was on to apprehend the smuggling racket, the sources said.
