NPF aspires for territorial integration of all Naga areas

Kohima, Nov 25 : The Central Executive Committee of the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) today reiterated its commitment to fighting for the integration of all contiguous Naga areas into one administrative unit, as enshrined in the constitution of the party. The CEC of the NPF, which was held at its Central Party Office here and concluded this evening, resolved a seven-point resolution in which the party endorses the standing policy of the Nagaland Cabinet of Ministers and the NPF-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government that the Disturbed Area Act should not be extended in Nagaland. The DAN government has always opposed the extension of Disturbed Area Act in Nagaland since 2003. The NPF endorsed the resolution of Naga civil societies in its meeting on November 18 at Dimapur which has resolved to urge all concerned groups to convene the highest level meeting of the underground factions.

The NPF reiterated its commitment to extending fullest cooperation and further strengthening the initiative of the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, which has brought all 60 members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly together on the Naga political issue. The NPF once again appealed to all underground organizations to refrain from all forms of conflict against one another to facilitate reconciliation and understanding in the Naga society. The NPF further appeals to the negotiating parties of the peace talks to expedite the talks and work towards an early negotiated solution that is acceptable to the people. The NPF will continue to play the role of active facilitator in the ongoing peace process and the party reiterates its declared policy of paving way for any alternative arrangement that may arise out of the peace process.
