Public Consultative meet on Biodiversity Rules at Kohima

Kohima, Oct 21 : The first Public Consultative meet on the Nagaland Draft Biodiversity Rules, organised by the state government to seek suggestions was held at Kohima Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall yesterday.

Official sources said here today the Convener of the Expert Committee of the Draft Nagaland Biodiversity Rules Elusing mero gave the introductory remark and said the Centre had enacted National Biological diversity Act 2002 and the state has been directed to frame its own Biodiversity Rules.

He also informed the public meeting has been convened to take suggestion for more inputs in the Draft Rules so that it can benefit the people also.

Sources said the state level stakeholders consultation on the Act was held in this connection recently at Kohima where the state wise consultation to seek the views of the committees before framing of the Nagaland Biodiversity Rules 2010.

Sources the Member Secretary of the Expert Committee for Drafting Vengota Nakro has informed that the Government has constituted a six-member Expert Committee to draft the Nagaland Biological Diversity Rules.

The Committee, in a series of meetings and wide range public consultations, had finally drafted the Nagaland Biodiversity Rules-2010.
