Nagaland police pays tribute to departed colleagues

Kohima, Oct 21 : The Nagaland police today celebrated the annual Police Martyrs Commemoration Parade in honour of police personnel's sacrifice for law and order.

Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Police K Kire said there was no nobler profession then police, who were always ready to lay down their life for the defence of the country.

He said it is the day to salute and remember those who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation and to remind those in service to rededicate their service towards the prevalence of law and order in the state and the nation.

On the occasion, names of eight hundred and seven police personnel, including five personnel from Nagaland, who were killed in the past one year was read out and rich floral tributes were accorded to them.

The parade was being organised in the memory of country's police officers and personnel who had laid their lives while on duty from September one, 2009 to August 30, 2010.
