Nagaland launches book on different plant species

Kohima, Aug 30 : With an intention to showcase the vast reserve of bio-diverse plant species in Nagaland, members of Nagaland Bio Resource Mission headed by Mission Director and Team Leader Moatoshi Longkumer, released a book 'Plant Resources of Nagaland', containing details of 650 plant species here today.

According to official sources, the book containing 682 pages, is a quick reference to each plant with a scientific description and also gives a clear idea about the shape of the plant and its uses.

The page turner highlights the beauty and treasures that nature has endowed the state with abundance and aims to provide a clear, concise and correct definitions and descriptions used in the medical terminology.

'Plants resources of Nagaland', with a picturesque illustration of plants with real time photographs, offers a complete understanding of the various plant species spread across the state and can be a guide to researchers, students, commercial establishment and concerned organisations.

It further works to establish cultivators, local entrepreneurs, urban traders, wholesalers, manufacturers, exporters and herbal healers in order to avoid illegal trading of medicinal plant species, official sources said.
