NMA wants NU FIRs withdrawn

Dimapur, December 2 (MExN): The Naga Mothers’ Association today demanded that the Nagaland University authorities immediately withdraw the FIRs lodged against leaders of the Nagaland University Teachers’ Association and of the Non-Teaching Staff Association of Nagaland University.
The NMA has expressed deep concern at the ongoing unresolved crisis in Nagaland University, “disappearance of the vice chancellor and registrar in the midst of crisis and filling of the FIR based on false allegations against NUTA and NUNTSA leaders by the Registrar, instead of resolving issues.”
As mothers, the NMA said in a note today, ‘our main concern is the welfare of our children whose future lies in the hands of the university.’ The association said the problems in Nagaland University, including allegations, corruption and undue harassment of teachers have gone on for too long. This is a very questionable trend for any academic institution, the Naga Mothers’ Association stated.
The NMA has appealed to the Registrar of NU to immediately withdraw the FIR against the NUTA and NUNTSA leaders. The Chief Rector of NU, Governor of Nagaland, is also appealed to, to take “immediate cognizance” of the inquiry report of the state government and make necessary recommendation to the Visitor of Nagaland.
“The NMA also appeals to the state government to release their inquiry report on Nagaland University for public information and take immediate action for necessary recommendation to the Visitor of Nagaland University, based on the findings of the inquiry committee,” the NMA added.
