Gurgaon Naga girl molestation: Accused seeks ‘compromise’

Dimapur, November 9 (MExN): In a new turn of events in the alleged molestation of a Northeast girl in a shopping mall in Gurgaon on Friday, sources from Delhi has revealed that the family of the accused had asked not to register an FIR, but rather “forgive” the accused.
“They were ready to slap the accused in front of us, but of what use is that? The family members were just trying to pacify us but we are not budging until justice is meted out,” sources said. The source also said that two Assistant Sub Inspectors in the Gurgaon police station were very “uncooperative and arrogant, they were clearly working towards the favor of the accused.”
The family members along with some police officers tried to convince NSUD leaders to “forgive” the accused and come to a compromise. The NSUD leaders refused to budge from their demands. “We were very frustrated and came back,” a student leader said. The NSUD had then approached the Home ministry today in hope of some help.
Also, a supplementary complaint was lodged with the Gurgaon police later, as the victim could not remember some details and information regarding the incident. However, the complaint was not accepted. It was also said that the victim has been taken to an undisclosed location for security reasons.
Earlier it was also reported that Sumit Kuhar, Assistant Commissioner of Police of east Gurgaon had said that “We have taken written statements from the victim and the manager and are verifying them. We will take necessary action after the verification.”
The Police in the DLF Phase-II police station had also said that they were verifying the statements before registering the FIR. But no action has been taken so far.
Also two days before this incident, two girls from northeast were pushed into a drain by seven drunken youths at Sikenderpur in Gurgaon while returning home from work on November 3. Immediately following this incident on the same day, three NE boys were beaten up by some unidentified people in different incidents. It was reported by sources that FIR has been filed in some cases but no action has so far been taken in any of the case.
