NPO not to support Blockade

Imphal | September 29 : The Naga Peoples’ Organization (NPO), Senapati has stated that joint action committee (JAC) for 2006 Autonomous District Council Teachers Appointed Parents & Guardians, Manipur does not exist in Senapati district and as such NPO will not support the ‘economic blockade’ imposed by the JAC but will ensure free flow of goods carrying vehicles on National Highway (NH) 39. Indefinite economic blockade had been called along NH 39 from midnight of September 28 by the JAC for 2006 Autonomous District Council Teachers Appointed Parents & Guardians, Manipur against the state government directive for holding fresh DPC for recruitment of primary teachers for six hill districts without settling the cases of 835 primary teachers who were appointed in 2006 with proper DPC and who had been drawing regular salaries for 10/11 months since their induction.
Meanwhile, the NPO has stated that it welcomed the DPC for fresh recruitment of primary teachers for the six hill districts of Manipur and appealed to all concerned not to disturb the education of the students at the primary level. The 835 teachers who were appointed in 2006 should sort out their problem with the appropriate authorities instead of preventing others from facing DPC by calling for economic blockade and preventing issue of employment exchange card to candidates, said the NPO.
The press release of the NPO issued by its president M. Dili appealed to the general public not to support such needless blockade and also asked the JAC to withdraw the blockade in the interest of the people of Manipur.
