Naga boy wins ‘most innovative idea award’

DIMAPUR, Dec 20 – Thungdemo Ovung has bagged the “Most Innovative Idea Award” at the Global Graduate Entrepreneurs Festival held at Manchester.

Thungdemo and his team 3D Life faced stiff competition to win the Award with their project ‘Sustainable, Portable and Cost-Effective Water Purification Device for Developing Countries’.

The festival was hosted in Manchester by United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) department. Altogether 175 students and graduate entrepreneurs were selected for the festival representing 80 universities from across 40 countries for the three-day intensive programme of lectures, workshops and brainstorming sessions on how to start business in the UK.

The festival provided opportunity for meeting investors and business experts from multi-national companies from various sectors. Barclays Bank and CEO of Versarien, UK based Innovative Technology and Engineering Solution Company supported the idea conceptualised by Thungdemo’s team.

Magazines of international repute such as BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) business magazines, kindred agencies, etc., had interviewed the Naga lad who featured on the International Business Times, UK for his innovative idea.

Thungdemo was born in Wokha town and did his early education from Bloomfield School, Wokha. He then shifted to St John School, Shillong and later did his intermediate from St John International Chennai.

Thungdemo did his graduation from Nottingham University, did his M Sc in Crop Bio-technology and Entrepreneurship, UK and MSc in Industrial Bio-technology, Liverpool John Moores University, UK.
