The taxation issue has become an emotive one in the state with a virtual standoff between the NSCN-IM and the ACAUT with the former rejecting ACAUT’s demand for abolition of the “multiple taxation and the dealership system”.
The letter issued on Monday by the Union home ministry and addressed to the Nagaland chief secretary said: “The NSCN-IM has been arrogating to itself the responsibility of finding a political solution on behalf of the Nagas in general, of which it clearly is not the sole representative, the outfit is not only observing the ceasefire ground rules but also violating all the existing laws, rules and regulations.”
