The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Dimapur along with the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) conducted a mock drill on Earthquake Search and Rescue Operation programme at a shopping arcade in Dimapur yesterday. According to sources here today personnel from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 1st Battalion from Guhawati and Nagaland Civil Defence and Home Guards 'evacuated victims and injured' persons from the high-rise buildings. Members of DDMA from various departments and offices also took part in the operation with first aid and other logistic supports. Senior Specialist (NDMA) Brig. Dr. B. K. Khanna, who was the Central Observer from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Delhi, expressed his satisfaction at the proceeding. He also said the NDMA would give all logistic support to the State Disaster Management Authority for proper implementation of the programme in the state.
