According to NMA sources, the memorandum to be sent to the chief minister, NMA president Abeiu Meru and NMA Education Committee Convener Rosemary Dzuvichu, expressed deep concern over the ongoing affairs in the department of education and inordinate delay in taking action against serious irregularities as per the latest reports of Special Investigation Team (SIT), Vigilance Commission, the State Verification Committee (SVC) and the District Special Verification Committees (DVC).
The memorandum demanded that the state government terminate all the teachers found guilty of using fake appointment orders, forged signatures of authorities as confirmed by QDEB experts.
It also demanded that all directorate and secretariat officials of Education Department, who had been identified and indicted by SIT for their involvement in wrongful projection and falsification of vacancies resulting in excess appointment of teachers, destruction of important official files and records and rampant issuance of approval orders, be penalised with immediate action as per law.
The NMA memorandum sought appropriate action against all the District Inspector of School (DIS) and District Education Officers (DEO) of various districts who had been named in the said report for dereliction of duty.
Citing SIT's final report, it pointed out that total salaries drawn by absentee teachers had been estimated at Rs 60,81,74,831, which was a huge financial loss.
