Nagaland Gaonburahs condemn killing of colleague

Kohima, Jul 12 : The Nagaland Gaon Burahs (GB) Federation has conducted an inquiry on the June 30 incident condemning the killing of the GB and Chairman of Inavi village by an unidentified armed group. In a press note issued by K C Zhenito Yeputhomi, president of the Nagaland GB Federation, said, ''The GB Federation is duty bound to protect the interest of the GBs of all tribes regardless of whether a village is recognised by the State Government or not.'' While condemning the killing, it also expressed shock over the action of the district administration for burying the body against the customary practice and wishes of the deceased family members and termed it as 'barbarism'.

''Setting up of a fact finding committee to the incident to submit its report within 30 days itself is a deviation from the norms and policies of the day as it has directly or indirectly given 30 days to the culprits to escape from being arrested,'' the press note stated. Therefore, while appealing to the State Government to apprehend the criminals at the earliest, the Federation urged the Government to give reasons as to why the culprits could not be arrested till today.
