Unsolved Naga issue hinders development: Rio

Kohima, May 29 : Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today reiterated that real progress and development could take place in the state if only the Naga political issue was solved. According to official sources here today, Mr Rio said, ''Once the Naga issue is solved, investors from outside will flock to our land and only then we will see rapid progress and development taking place. He lamented that the pace of development is not satisfactory due to the protracted Naga issue even as the cry for peace among the Nagas has been strong. He further reiterated that the top priority of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland Government is to bring peace to the Nagas. Inspite of the Government of India granting special recognition through Article 371(a), Nagas continue to suffer as we fail to recognize ourselves, he said.

''Development does not mean only construction of roads, houses or community halls but it also includes human resource development,'' he said adding the government was doing its best to develop human resource.
