Hoho asks Naga groups to stop taxing young entrepreneurs

Kohima, Mar 23 : The apex tribal council Naga Hoho has asked the underground groups to stop collecting 'taxes' from the public, particularly from young Naga entrepreneurs.

In a statement, the Hoho said it acknowledged that any political movement or 'revolutionary group' survives only on selfless contributions from the people. "But in the context of Naga political movement, the undergrounds must first prove that they are worthy of their cause," the statement said.

It pointed out that many Nagas working outside the state do not want to return because of the unbearable taxes under the banner of '(Naga) nationalism', and asked the groups to stop any form of taxes especially on young and upcoming Naga entrepreneurs.
