The children were promised free education upto class ten and were taken to Shrinavasan Nagar, Andhra Pradesh during the second week of March earlier this year.
The children on reaching their new school were however allegedly ill treated by the school concerned by not feeding them properly and also meted out other forms of ill treatment with dubious motive. It was learnt that many of the students from the state have fallen sick in the process and that so far five children who fell sick were brought back home by their parents.
It was also alleged that the children were often forced to go out at night and collect firewood and were severely punished if they failed to bring the same. More dubiously, the children were allegedly not allowed to close their doors at night.
On receiving information of the ill treatment meted out to their children, the parents and villagers with the help of the apex tribal body- the Zeliangrong Baudi had formally lodged an official complaint to both the district administration through the Deputy Commissioner Peren and the Home Commissioner of Nagaland.
Deputy Commissioner Peren, N. Mesen Rengma who confirmed the report said that on receiving the complaint from the Samziuram villagers, he had written to the Home Commissioner to take up the matter with his counterpart in Andhra Pradesh.
Recalling the complaints he received from the villagers, the DC expressed doubt of certain ill intention and motive behind the ill-treatment meted out to the children, as per the complaint.
Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong Baudi and the aggrieved parents had reportedly submitted a separate representation to Home Commissioner seeking help from the state government in bringing back the remaining children. Home Commissioner could not be reached for confirmation and action taken if any.
