Rotarians reach out to more cleft lip palate patients

KOHIMA, Feb 22 : Twenty-three cleft lip palate patients left Kohima for Imphal on February 19, 2009, to undergo correction surgery at Shija Hospital Imphal.

On reaching Kohima with the 10 patients whom he operated upon on February 12, 2009 at Shija Hospital, Chairman and Managing Director Shija Hospital, Dr KH Palin congratulated and appreciated the patients for their confidence on him and the Shija Hospital and said that they would continue to help them. "It is our responsibility to lead them and let them live a normal life so that they can smile", said Dr Palin. He also said that the second batch of patients will return to Kohima on February 28, 2009, where the third batch would leave for Imphal the same day.

Speaking on behalf of the operated patients, an attendant of one of the patient thanked Dr Palin for rendering a new smile, new hope and new life to them. He also encouraged the second batch of patients by sharing their experiences at Shija Hospital. ‘Shija Hospital is a pride not only for the people of Imphal but also for the whole of Northeast’, he commented. It may be mentioned that the cleft lip palate project is a joint venture taken up by the Rotary Club of Kohima, Imphal and Shija Hospital, Imphal.
