According to official sources, the NEPED has built the first indigenous Hydroger, a bigger dynamo-type generator of electricity, which is a renewable source of energy which can serve as a strong empowering component for people and help to meet the rural energy needs.
Hydroger is the term christened by the NEPED derived from amalgamation of 'hydro' and 'generator'.
Hydroger is a cost-effective machine which generates electricity at an installed capacity of 3 and 5 Kilowatts.
The NEPED first introduced Chinese-made Hydrogers two years back n a few villages of the state.
However, the Hydrogers were not cost effective and cumbersome to install. Therefore, the NEPED drew up a spate of ideas to build an indigenous Hydroger and after 18 months of various tests on various types of errors and faults, the prototype Hydroger has been built by a five-member team in collaboration with Nagaland Mini Tool Room and Training Centre and funding from NABARD.
The team is headed by Nagaland Commissioner and Secretary for Industries Temjen Toy and the members are Takum Chang, Ming Ezung, Ari Jamir, Cheung Konyak, Ayong Chang and Additional Secretary and Deputy Leader Raj Verma.
