Naga Chilli Eating Competition to boost Eco-tourism

The first ‘Naga Chilli Eating Competition’ scheduled to be held during the Hornbill festival this year will boost Eco-tourism in the state. Dr. Tolto Metha, Event Coordinator, Naga Chilli Eating Competition while stating this in a press release said that the interesting feature of this event is, it has been decided to involve all the Tribal Hohos of Nagaland. This event has been organized with the sole objective of promoting the Naga Chilli, which has already received rave reviews around the globe. Further promotion through such an event will not only put Nagaland into the horticultural map of the world and help the local farmers. With this objective in mind, all the respective Tribal Hohos are requested to send two participants each for the competition, along with one Tribal representative.
The competition will be held during the Hornbill Festival this year, which is on December 6 in the Heritage Village, Kisama at 12:30 PM. This event has been managed by XL Nagaland under the aegis of the Tourism Department, Government of Nagaland. Registration of the participants will be held on December 5 at the Heritage (Old D.C. Bungalow) at 1:00 PM. During registration, thorough deliberations will be made on the safety guidelines of the competition and the rules and regulations. So the participants are requested to report on this date without fail.
R. Khing, Parliamentary Secretary of Horticulture, Nagaland will grace event as the chief guest. The winner of the competition will receive a cash award of rupees 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand only).
