Nagaland documentary film on AIDS selected for International fest

Kohima, Oct 22 : A documentary film from Nagaland titled 'Going The Distance' has been selected for the 'Indian Panorama Section of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2010'.

In a release here, the Directorate of Film Festivals of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting informed that altogether 26 feature films, including popular Hindi films 'Tere Bin Laden', 'Wake Up Sid', 'Paa' and '3 Idiots' and a total of 19 non-feature films, including Tiainla Jamir's 'Going The Distance', Umesh Aggarwal's 'Incurable India', Aditi Chitre's 'Journey to Nagaland', Haobam Paban Kumar's 'Mr India', Nabakumar Khagokpam's 'The Victims' and Dip Bhuyan's 'Seshasha' have been selected for the screening in the International Film Festival of India 2010. IFFI would be held at Goa from November 22 to December 2, organised by the Directorate of Film Festival of the Union I and B Ministry, in collaboration with the Government of Goa and the Indian Film Industry.

'Going The Distance' is a documentary produced and directed by Ms Tiainla Jamir, who hails from Merangkong village under Mokokchung district. The documentary is based on the life of an HIV positive girl, who after having discovered that the she is PLHIV (People Living with HIV), has overcome stigma and discrimination and continued her normal life courageously with her family and friends, the Director's Note said.
