Nagaland DGP asks policemen to be people friendly

Kohima, Oct 28 : Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) K Kire has asked policemen to respect the symbol of trust and confidence that comes with the job and there by exercise the authority vested upon judiciously and people friendly.

Official sources here today said that the DGP was attending the Attestation Parade of the Nagaland Armed Police (Indian Reserve Battalion), as chief guest, at Chumukedima near Dimapur yesterday, where 446 newly recruited NAP personnel, including 17 women, took oath of 'security, service and sacrifice'.

In his paternal note on the occasion Mr. Kire reminded that though there were numbers of unfortunate reports on misuse of authority by police forces occurring across the country, Nagaland so far remains free from such instances as abuse of authority ad power.

He, however, warned that strict action would be taken against erring police personnel if found guilty.

He also appreciated the 15th Mahila Indian Reserve Battalion from Nagaland for performing commendable duty in the Commonwealth Games and said that the Battalion supposed to be either attached with the Indian army.

Earlier, the DGP took the salute of the attested police personnel.
