Indian leaders apprised of actual current situation

Dimapur | June 15 : With fingers pointing at various Naga groups for the 65-day old blockade on National Highway-39, a delegation of Coordination Committee of Naga Civil Society Organizations met the Centre’s leaders in Delhi to apprise them of the current ‘actual situation’. The team met Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Home Secretary GK Pillai and Interlocutor for the Indo-Naga talks, RS Pandey. The committee’s convener Neingulo Krome informed that the leaders were apprised about “the media blowing things out of proportion” over the situation in Manipur. The committee told the Indian leaders that the blockade had nothing to do with NSCN (IM) leader Th. Muivah’s visit, and that it was only the media drawing their own conclusions, Krome said.
The leaders were also told that the media was portraying only one side of the story, and that the blockade had been imposed even before Th. Muivah’s planned visit to his hometown in Ukhrul in the state of Manipur, Krome said. All three leaders have assured early solution to the impasse, Krome added. The committee has asked the Centre not to send security forces to remove the blockade, as it would only provoke the situation. The delegates will meet other leaders in Delhi, it was informed.
