ASTD, CANSSEA concerned
He also added in the note that the family is not in a position to pay the ransomed amount. In a separate note, the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) has lamented that despite appeals made through media, the captors of CDPO T Sashi has not communicated to his family or relatives. Meanwhile, the Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA) has expressed our deep concern and anguish over the recent abduction of Sashi, CDPO, Mokokchung at Hojai, Assam.
The CANSSEA in a note stated that Shashi, the CDPO is a bona fide member of CANSSEA and a very obedient, sincere and humble officer of the state. “The CANSSEA through this press release vehemently condemn the dastardly act of kidnapping of Shri Shashi, Child Development Project Officer and his driver on 4th June at Hojai, Assam. The confederation felt that abduction of a mere government officer (who is just discharging his assigned duties) and his driver and subsequently to lifting of his vehicle is a serious threat to social living and a dire mocking to civilized society,” it stated.
CANSSEA therefore, as an apex confederation of state services employees association, has urged upon the state government to immediately take necessary step with its counterpart, the Assam government, to find whereabouts of the missing officer and his driver in the earliest possible date. Moreover, it has appealed to the authority in concern to bring to book the culprits without further delay. While, condemning the crime, the CANSSEA appealed to all right thinking people to out rightly condemn any kind of anti-social element not only in words but to join hand in fighting against any arising anti-social element in our society.

Still no clue of CDPO: Police

A week after the abduction of Child Development Project Officer, Mangkolemba sub-divion, T. Sashi in Hojai under Nawgaon district in Assam there is still no tangible clue regarding the officer’s whereabouts. CDPO T Sashi had gone missing on June 4 last from somewhere in Hojai after he had reportedly gone there on some personal work along with his driver.
It is learned from sources that the abductors have varied their ransom demand atleast thrice since the kidnapping. At first, Rs 3 lakh was the demand which was later increased to Rs 50 lakhs. It is now reportedly ‘negotiated’ at Rs 20 lakhs. The sources said that the abductors keep on changing their location, as is learned from the phone signals.
Director General of Police, Nagaland, K Kire said the state police is doing everything within its means in the matter. The Nagaland police have tied up with the Assam police, the DGP disclosed, with one Assam police officer in the rank of IG (Law & Order) acting as the ‘liaison officer’ in the investigation. Queried on the seriousness of their counterpart on the matter, Kire replied the Assam police are cooperating.
