Land, people, politics can’t be separated: Swu

DIMAPUR, MAY 15 (NPN):

NSCN (I-M) “yaruiwo” Isak Chishi Swu while stating that it was the “right and duty” of the Naga people to live together as a “nation”, Saturday said land, people and politics cannot be separated, adding that “they should exist together.”
“The Naga people should claim their rights and fulfill their duties. If we cannot do that, we are wrong,” Isak Chishi Swu said in a communiqué.
Describing May6 Mao Gate incident as a “strange incident – strange before the eyes of the sensible people of the world,” Swu said it was “very strange” to learn that Meitei people do not want Muivah to visit his hometown, who wanted to visit his birthplace Somdal after more than 40 years.
While questioning “how could they (Manipur armed personnel) kill innocent students and beat up many Naga people just because they were preparing to welcome their leader,” NSCN (I-M) “yaruiwo” said it clearly showed that “we cannot live together.”
Pointing out there were two opposing forces – one driven by love of the land and wealth and the other motivated by love of their own people, Swu said: “The act of violence of the Meitie people is driven by their love of wealth and the land of the Naga people, not the love of the Naga people.”
He, however, underscored that the movement of Naga people for “unification of Nagalim” was motivated by love of their own land and their people.
“This is the right time for the Naga people to rise up together against the opposing forces who are already up in arms against the unity and integrity of Nagalim and the Naga society,” Swu declared.
With regard this, NSCN (I-M) “yaruiwo” urged all the Naga people “to rise to this kind of challenge to save Nagalim and the Naga people.”
Further, he prayed “Divine Providence” guide and protect all.
Meanwhile, the “yaruiwo” of the NSCN (I-M) has conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and pray that God receive the souls of the “martyrs in His Heavenly Home.”
“I am always with the victims of the Mao Gate incident. You have shown your unflinching loyalty and love to your nation and your bravery in front of the enemy forces.”
He also expressed gratitude to Coordination Committee of the Naga Civil Society including Naga Hoho, Naga Mothers’ Association, Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights, Naga Students’ Federation, United Naga Council, Naga Women’s Union of Manipur, All Naga Students’ Association of Manipur, Tenyimia Women’s Organization and many more organizations and individuals for participating in this present situation.
