Naga food product reaches South Africa, Delhi

Kohima, March 22 : In what can be termed as good news for Naga entrepreneurs and boost for the state’s industry trends, Naga food products have now found a place in South Africa, Delhi, Hyderabad and Guwahati.Pineapple slices product from a nascent Dimapur based fruit processing unit- M/S Exodelicia Food Product Nagaland is reportedly getting high demand from South Africa, Delhi and Hyderabad.

Bamboo shoots product from this unit also registered high demand from Delhi, and also, huge demand of wild apple squash from Guwahati. “Seeing the good response, we are trying to market it internationally,” said the unit production director Vetshete Doulo. Talking to The Morung Express, Doulo also stated that some agencies from UK and USA had shown interest “to have trade friendship with us.”

This unit is taking part in the ongoing International Trade Fair at the Kohima Local Ground, which will continue till March 25. Established in 2008 under the sponsorship of National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), this unit is located at 5th Mile. It had participated in State Road Show in Kohima recently. The products also found market at the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland at Kisama last year.

Other product from this unit includes pineapple tidbits, pineapple jam, pineapple juice, Pomegranate drink and ginger drink. In Nagaland, the products are available in Kohima, Dimapur, Pfutsero and Phek. Satisfied with the response from the customers, Doulo maintained that the future prospect of the unit is bright, for which it will strive further and go for wider marketing.
