Naga youth urged to get professional

Kohima | October 17 : In a small but impressive function held at the Heritage Bungalow October 16 evening, the government celebrated what it called a success story, a result of initiatives under capacity-building policies: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio congratulated the first batch of 100 students who successfully completed trainings sponsored by the state government of Nagaland, and on getting job placements in reputed firms both in the country and abroad.
Exhorting the youth, the chief minister encouraged them to move along with the fast-advancing society and to think globally, to take advantage of the opportunities being offered by the government. Neiphiu Rio advised them to go professional and opt for specialization in their chosen fields rather than juggling with multiple options. He urged the youth to change their mindset and attitude and come forward to avail the opportunities being offered by the government. Also, pointing out that more and more Naga youths are looking for career options outside the state sector and also abroad, Rio advised them to look beyond employment in the state government.
Rio announced that under various initiatives for the youth, the state government has extended assistance to over 10,000 Naga youths while over 5,000 are already running their own entrepreneurships and business. Also, pointing out that Nagaland has vast tourism potential the chief minister underscored the need to have world-class facilities to cater to both domestic and international tourists.
All the 100 students underwent training under Chrysalis Academy in beauty treatment, spa and make-up, hair-styling and nail treatment courses, almost fully sponsored by the state government. With the exception of a few who chose to return to Nagaland to start their own enterprises, all the trainees got job placements with reputed firms both within the country and abroad. The trainees of the second batch, also consisting of 100 students, are due to complete their courses by December this year, the chief minister informed and expressed confidence that they too will get good job placements.
Chief Minister Rio also announced that the state would soon be having its own flying academy in the form of a branch academy of Carver Aviation Academy for which the government has already released Rs. one crore to the institute. Minister for Planning and Coordination, TR Zeliang, Additional Chief Secretary Alemtemshi, Director of the Chrysalis Academy and leaders of Youthnet also spoke at the occasion. Youthnet is partner to the state government in various initiatives.
