DAN initiated common Naga platform unnecessary: NPCC

Kohima, Sep 11 : Nagaland Pradesh Congress argued that another social body with initiatives of political parties to act as facilitator to Naga peace process at this juncture is unnecessary since Forum for Naga Re-conciliation (FNR) has done a commendable job on peace front in the state.

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K V Pusa in a statement today said the proposed Common Naga Platform initiated by the ruling alliance was not necessary at this juncture as it would invite intrusion of "political disease" into social system and bring further fragmentation and division in the Naga society.

Stating that the FNR, comprising Churches and civil society organisations, was rendering "incredible and worthy service" in bringing the Naga underground groups together in "a true Christian belief and principle," he pointed out that today factional killings had come to a halt due to the initiative of the Forum and understanding and positive attitudes shown by the underground groups and all political parties.

Calling all sections to extend support to the Forum, NPCC chief said, "the FNR has enliven our hope and expectation towards fulfilling the ardent and cherished aspiration of the Naga people.
