CBI team in Nagaland to probe into NU corruption charges

KOHIMA, Sept 8: A CBI team arrived at Kohima and started inquiries into the charges of corruption and financial anomalies in the Nagaland University (NU) administration.
Official sources here today said the CBI officials arrived here from Kolkata yesterday on the instructions of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil after the Nagaland University Teachers' Association (NUTA) had brought allegations of financial anomalies.
The team met Vice-Chancellor Prof K Kannan, the Registrar of NU and some others and inquired on the allegations.
The CBI team will also meet former Registrar of NU Thejao Vihienuo, who has retired now, and Controller of Examinations Tongpang Ao, who was suspended by the Executive Council of NU recently.
The CBI team is likely to meet the officials of NUTA on the allegations of financial anomalies, sources said.
