Kohima | July 20 : The Women Welfare Organization of Lower Chandmari (WWOLC) organised a one-day seminar on health on Saturday at the Gorkha Public Panchayat Hall at Chandmari, Kohima, with Dr. Nicky Kire, MLA and Chairman of the Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board, as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kire said that health means complete health, mental and social wellbeing for which women’s roles and responsibilities on healthcare are very crucial.
A mother’s health should be taken care of during pregnancy so that her life and her baby would not be at risk at the time of delivery. A healthy mother is a healthy baby, he advised. The MLA also expounded on some issues relating to health such as regular medical checkups, health incentive schemes, balanced diet, sanitation, safety drinking etc. While appreciating the WWOLC for organising the seminar, Dr. Kire appealed to them to organise such programmes in the coming days as well for the benefit of the colony.
Dr. Ralte Kire, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kohima, who is also the lady wife of MLA Dr. Kire, acted as the resource person. She spoke on health issues relating to women such as pregnancy, delivery, the mother and her baby’s health, menstruation, family planning, various diseases as well as facilities provided by the government.
