Kohima, Oct. 15: Byelection to the
11 Northern Angami-II Assembly constituency passed off peacefully today
amid reports of proxy-voting in some booths.
Sources said 86 per cent votes were polled
today. Long queues were seen in front of several booths before 7am.
Polling ended this evening by 6.30.
Adequate security forces were deployed in
all vulnerable areas to thwart untoward incidents. Eleven polling
stations were declared hyper-sensitive/critical and nine vulnerable. In
the morning, NPF candidate Niephrezo Keditsu and BJP candidate Visasolie
Lhoungu cast their votes in their respective villages at Chiechama and

Touphema village, nearly 35km from Kohima.
Counting will take place on October 20.
Both the NPF and the BJP are coalition partners of the ruling Democratic
Alliance of Nagaland (DAN). The NPF has 37 members in the House of 60.
