Naga Hindi voice competition encourages youngsters to take up music

In a bid to promote Hindi songs and provide exposure to young talent, a "Naga Hindi Voice" event was organized recently in Dimapur, where singers from north eastern states participated with enthusiasm.

The "Naga Hindi Voice" was organized at the Apna Hotel in Dimapur under the aegis of the "Good Friends Society" with an aim of providing a platform for youngsters to display their talent.

Altogether, 40 enthusiastic candidates from different north eastern states participated in the audition and performed several popular Hindi songs.

Twenty-six contestants were selected to compete for the coveted title.

Chief Organizer Apeto Ayemi said, "We have seen many young talented persons in Nagaland who can sing Hindi songs very well, but are not getting the right platform to expose their hidden talent. We, the Good Friend Voice Society, have organized the Naga Hindi Voice for this very purpose."

After several rounds, the selected candidates will take part in the grand finale on December 1.

The winner of the contest would be given Rs.1 lakh in cash and a one album contract.

A participant Malavika Kachari explained, "I felt very good participating at the event. Even the title also, Naga Hindi Voice, which is very good, and I'm excited. I don't know what will happen, but I've prepared the song so I'll try my best."

Another participant Hitoka added, "This will be a tough competition because I can see my old friends who are very good in singing Hindi song moreover there are some Nepalese candidate so it will be a tough competition."

Youngsters in Nagaland take a keen interest in music and opportunities like these will further encourage pursuing music.

Every year, the Naga Idol is also organized in Dimapur in a bid to find out talented singers.

Nagaland is also the first state in the country to have declared music as an industry.

For talented musicians in Nagaland, the future indeed seems bright.
