Naga Hoho calls for unity among Nagas

DIMAPUR, Feb 17 – Naga Hoho, the apex body of civil organisations in Nagaland, has urged all the tribe leaders to work selflessly towards bringing about peace and unity among the ‘Naga national groups’.

“Let us not forget that there are various divisive forces in and outside the Naga family to defeat our desired goals and those forces are tirelessly working against our national struggle,” the Naga Hoho in a statement issued by its vice president HK Zhimomi and general secretary Mutsikhoyo Yhobu said today.

Noting that there is a season for everything and a time for every purpose, the Hoho said therefore, it is time for all the Nagas to unite and put our heads together to work for the common aspiration.

“History speaks that nations may fall but can be rebuilt as long as the people are united and steadfast with devotion and vigour,” it said.

The statement said in line with the motto “Unity & Fraternity”, the newly constituted Naga Hoho Executive Council at its meeting held in Kohima recently once again reaffirmed to seriously examine and pursue the unity of all Naga national groups.

Noting that the reconciliation process among the Naga political groups have been going on for more than five years under the banner of Forum for Naga Reconciliation, the Hoho, however, said it is yet to come to a logical conclusion.

The Hoho is also of the view that the reconciliation process among the Naga political groups is not only to put a halt to fratricidal killings and unwarranted situations but also to resolve the Indo-Naga political problem with ceaseless joint efforts.

While maintaining that the Naga national aspiration is the foundation of our people and will remain so until it is achieved, the Hoho opined that there should not be conflict of interest on the question when dealing with national aspiration and the struggle of our nationhood.
