Three Naga underground outfits — the National Socialist Council of
Nagaland (Isak-Muivah), the GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) and the NNC/FGN
(Singnya-Vero) — have agreed to strengthen the “reconciliation process,”
which seeks to unite Nagas for the purpose of achieving their
“historical and political rights.”
The top leaders of the three outfits — Mr. Isak Chishi Swu and Mr.
Thuingaleng Muivah of the NSCN (Isak-Muivah), Gen. (retd.) Khole Konyak
and Mr. Kitovi Zhimomi of the GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi), and Brig.
(retd.) S. Singnya and Mr. Zhopra Vero of the NNC/FGN (Singnya-Vero) —
met on July 27 and July 29 under the aegis of the Forum for Naga
Reconciliation (FNR) to share and discuss various issues.
“The leaders expressed the importance of Naga reconciliation and agreed
to further strengthen the present reconciliation process — a journey of
common hope,” the FNR said in a statement.
‘Demonstrate commitment’
The FNR encouraged the leaders to demonstrate their commitment by moving
forward together, based on lessons learnt from the past. “Since the
intended goal is to honour and achieve common aspirations, the FNR calls
for all the Naga political groups to maintain the status quo and to
refrain from any unwarranted activities in order to bring stability to
Naga society,” the statement added.
On August 25, 2011 top leaders of these three underground outfits
resolved in principle — after a five-day reconciliation meeting held at
Dimapur in Nagaland — to work towards the formation of one “Naga
National Government.”
The leaders had then issued a statement, saying a high-level commission
of the three groups had been formed to expedite the process of forming
the Naga national government. The committee, they had said, would hold
meetings in the presence of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, which was
acting as facilitator.
