According to the Emergency Response Centre here, a female caller sent a distress call from Dimapur at 2.44 am. She told the Emergency Response Officer (ERO) Alleans Sangma that she was being held in a hotel by a person whom she knew.
She also informed that the perpetrator instead of taking her home took her to a hotel where she was raped. The officer immediately connected the girl to her father through a conference.
The ERO also informed the Police Control Room here about the situation, who in turn contacted their counterpart in Dimapur. The girl, on her own, managed to escape the hotel and board an autorickshaw. Sangma guided the autorickshaw driver to escort the victim to the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland Police informed that the girl has been shifted to East Town Police Station and the alleged rapist-kidnapper has been arrested. Aurelius Robert Passah, Marketing and Media Relations officer of 108 service, Meghalaya said: “All the Northeastern States, apart from Assam, share the same Telecom Circle, so local calls made from the neighbouring States often are connected to 108 Meghalaya.”
