Search ops for Naga boy abandoned in Malaysia

Aggrieved family members of Moasangba Imchen, who went missing since May 24 from Bendolo, Miri state, Malaysia Friday expressed unhappiness that authorities of the overseas merchant ship ‘Ajiie,’ where he was employed as crew member was yet to make any contact with them.

They have questioned why the enterprise has not even bothered to get in touch with them. Family sources also informed that following the end of a seven-day search, Malaysian police as per protocol was learnt to have abandoned the operation.  

In a revelation, they also informed that the mobile number belonging to Moasangba was still ringing on Saturday when they called, a day after he went missing from the ship.  A special prayer service for the family members was conducted Friday at the residence of the missing boy located at Bor lengri.

ASTD, DCST seek state, centre help: Expressing concern over the missing crew member of overseas merchant navy vessel, Moasangba Imchen, Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) and Dimapur Changkikong Senso Telongjem (DCST) have sought the help of state government to press the Centre and Malaysia government to trace Moasangba and bring justice to the family.

The press statements also maintained that “failure to shed light on the incident by the search operation of the overseas merchant navy vessel authority during the past one week is mysterious”. 

Pointing out that the parents were not in a position to afford the search for their missing son aboard, the two organizations have urged the state government to take up the issue with the central government so that immediate action was taken up through high commission of India and Malaysia government.
