Nagaland CEO orders checking of VIPs

KOHIMA: Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer J Alam has written to the deputy commissioners and district election officers of all the districts in Nagaland with regard to checking of baggage of VIPs at helipads and motorcades of Z+ protectees in an order dated 31st January 2013.

The CEO has directed the DC & DEOs to enforce the said instructions strictly and noted that the baggage of all passengers, irrespective of rank and status, is to be checked, especially at non-commercial helipads. In this regard, static surveillance team or flying squad team may be positioned at the helipads in advance, whenever such movement is scheduled, the order stated. It further said physical frisking of Z+ protectees is not to be carried out.

Alam also told the DCs & DEOs to ban movement of biker groups, who have been creating nuisance for the general public in the towns at night. He asked them to give instructions to the police to strictly enforce the ban.

The CEO also directed them to check instances of new vehicles and motorbikes being procured and distributed to certain voters as bribery and take action to seize vehicles wherever found to be in excess of the quota fixed for candidates or are without vehicle permit .
