Hornbillfestival.com wins tourism award

DIMAPUR, March 2  – Hornbillfestival.com, a website on Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, was awarded the prestigious National Tourism Award by President Pratibha Patil at a well attended function in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The website won the prize in the category ‘Most Innovative use of Information Technology/Best Website Promoting India Tourism’. Hornbillfestival.com’s founder Dr Yan Murry and senior manager Mhathung Murry received the award from the President.

Notable among those present at the award function included Union Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahai, Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed and Union Tourism Secretary RH Khwaja.

According to a press note, Hornbillfestival.com has been catering to tourists’ needs since 2008. The management has provided various online services which have made it convenient for tourists to visit the festival. The website, having visitors from 85 countries in 2011, has also won the Northeast Award for Tourism last year.
