Nagas ask all groups to join peace, re-conciliation process
Dimapur, Mar 1 : Pitching for inclusive peace, Nagas today called upon all underground groups to join the current re-conciliation initiative and cease hostilities among themselves. The Nagas in a resolution appealed to all political groups to be part of the on-going peace, re-conciliation and unity process initiated by the Forum for Naga Re-conciliation (FNR) by setting aside their differences. The FNR organized a meeting Naga Re-conciliation: A Journey of Common Hope here and was attended by nagas from across the north east and non-nagas from Dimapur, besides top leaders of NSCN(I-M), NNC/FGN (Singnya) and GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) who expressed their commitment to peace and unity. NSCN(K), however, did not attend the meeting. The meeting in another resolution favoured formation of a broad-based committee with representatives from all sections of Naga society to carry forward and consolidate the on-going peace, re-conciliation and unity campaign. It also lauded FNR's efforts to bring about understanding and re-conciliation among the groups. Speakers representing various civil society groups, tribal hohos (councils), churches and NGOs stressed the need for understanding among the Naga political groups so that there could be a unified Naga voice on the Naga political question and resolution of the conflict through dialogue. General secretaries of NSCN (I-M) and GPRN/NSCN Thuinglang Muivah and Kitovi Zhimomi spoke at the programme.
