Kohima, Jan 10 : The Land Resources Department of Nagaland intends to take up rubber plantation on a largescale in the state, in view of the vast potential.
Official sources said the plantation will be taken up under Rubber Development Plantation Scheme.
The Department has so far developed about 2,000 hectares in the state with fund provided by NABARD under various branches of Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).
Source said most of the plantations have attained tapping stage and the growers have started getting return.
During 2010-11, an extension of 625 hectares has been taken up at the cost of Rs 250 Lakh in Wokha, Mokokchung, Dimapur, Longleng, Mon and Peren district under RIDF-XV.
