Signatories of Naga Concordant render public service

Kohima, Dec 11 (PTI) In a bid to further consolidate the on-going re-conciliation process in Nagaland, cadres from three Naga groups today carried out a "public service" in Dimapur town on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day. As a symbolic expression of unity in purpose, 25 cadres each from NSCN(I-M), GPRN/NSCN and NNC/FGN wielding brushes painted afresh the Dimapur's Hong Kong Bazar flyover, in the presence of Forum for Naga Re-conciliation (FNR) members. The top leaders of three Naga groups had signed the "Naga Concordant" in July as part of the re-conciliation initiated by the Forum. The students of Oriental Theological Seminary, Dimapur also joined the underground cadres in painting the flyover. "The act is a symbolic expression of unity in purpose," the FNR members said. December 10 is the International Human Rights Day declared by the United Nations, which adopted the human rights charter in 1948. Peace Channel, a faith based musical group, also today commemorated Human Rights Day at Dimapur by organizing a "Concert for Peace" with the theme "Stop Violence against Children and Youth." The Concert, organized at Holy Cross school campus, featured the band Divine Connection and Alobo Naga and the band which was attended by local MLA and former chief minister K L Chishi, deputy commissioner Husheli Sema among others.
