Nagaland to get its first cricket stadium soon

KOHIMA: Abu Metha, general secretary of the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) and press secretary to the chief minister told TOI that the newly-built mega stadium, exclusively for cricket located at Sovima in Dimapur district will be formally inaugurated in January 2012.

"The stadium will be the first in the region to have floodlights, which will enable it to host both day and night matches. National domestic level matches such as Ranji Trophy can now be hosted in the state and international matches too in the years to come. The stadium will also have four pitches besides other modern technologies and facilities," he said.

Further he announced that the Cricket Academy for Nagaland which will be housed within the cricket stadium will also be inaugurated. The academy will be the first northeastern centre of excellence for cricket.
