Nagaland Chief Secretary Lalthara today directed all departments to
ensure all government officials retire on due date of superannuation.
In a memorandum here, Mr Lalthata said observing that a number of
cases had come up to the notice of the state government regarding
regularisation of overstay period in government services beyond the date
of superannuation, the government would not entertain any ex-post facto
approval for extension of service. He warned that the loss on
account of delay in superannuation would have to be born by the
department concerned. In this regard, the Department of Personal
and Administrative Reform issued an Office Memorandum on April 7, 1993.
It was reiterated that both the department and the individual were to
know the date of superannuation and instructions in this regard issued
by the government and lack of knowledge cannot be considered as valid
excuse, the chief secretary stated.
