Nagaland Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio has stressed on the need for preservation of the rich culture and tradition of the Nagas and said that various efforts have been taken by his Government in this regard like the National Hornbill Festival and road shows. Gracing the Tsungremmong Festival of the Ao Naga tribe as the chief guest at Khensa village under Mokokchung district yesterday, Mr Rio opined that celebration of festivals should not be considered as a clash of religions. At the grand celebration, he expressed his happiness that such celebration of festival signifies peace and unity among the people and added that if all Nagas celebrates such festivals with peace and unity it would be very good. He further added that though Nagas haven t got independence yet, he added that we have achieved a lot, we have been recognized by the world and we have not lost everything. The chief minister said that by celebrating festivals, we are reminded that our forefathers were very hardworking and that they survived through their hard labour, though he lamented that work culture is diminishing in the Naga society. The celebration was also graced by Home Minister Imkong L Imchen. It was marked by various displays of cultural and traditional items like songs and dances.
