Kohima, Aug 20 : The Government of Nagaland today directed the Department of School Education and all deputy commissioners to strictly ensure clean and potable drinking water in all school premises, as decreed by the Supreme Court on August 9 last.
Nagaland Chief Secretary Lalthara issued a letter today ordering the director of school education and all the deputy commissioners of the districts to see that the facility is provided within one week without fail.
The compliance must be sent in confirmation by the respective deputy commissioners to the director of school education, the letter said.
Authorities of all government and government aided schools in Nagaland are directed to ensure availability of clean and potable drinking water in school.
Mr Lalthara said if any school did not have such facilities, the school concerned may bring the matter to the knowledge of the director of school education.
''This instruction should be passed onto all schools within your jurisdiction within the shortest possible time,'' the letter added.
