Kohima, Aug 11 : Kohima is facing a total black out threat as one of the pylons of the main transmission line to this capital town of Kohima from Dimapur collapsed yesterday and another was partially damaged.
According to the Power department sources here today, one pylon on the 132 KV transmission line, connecting Kohima and Karong in Manipur, had collapsed following a landslide near Phesama under Kohima district on July 26 last, affecting the inter-state power connection between Manipur and Nagaland.
The transmission line had been used as an alternative power supply line whenever the regular 132 KV Dimapur-Kohima transmission line fails.
Sources said that the alternative transmission line had also been affected and was on the verge of collapse near the Assam Rifles camp at Piphema.
